07Before we quote
Is your slab a candidate?
What We Check Before Quoting
An overlay should not be used to cover a problem that is still moving. Settlement, heaving, widespread delamination and drainage that cannot be corrected are replacement conversations, and covering them usually leads to early failure.
Existing cracks are the other thing to settle up front. A crack in the old slab can come through a new surface, so how each one is treated — or designed into the layout — is decided before work starts.
So we map the cracks, sound the slab for hollow areas, check the drainage and the grade, and then tell you whether your slab may be a candidate. Sometimes the answer is no, and that answer costs you nothing.
Pool decks add one more question: is there a leak under the slab, or water sitting where it should be draining away? Either one has to be found and fixed first, because an overlay bonded over it will not last.
